
FOUNDERS HALL Construction Update
November 4, 2009
- This week and next, building progress focuses on:
- Backfilling along the south wall adjacent to the Fairfax Drive sidewalk
- Work continues on installation of elevators #3 through #8
- Installation of various metal structures (stairs, elevator divider beams, etc) continues
- Continue exterior stud framing and CMU (concrete masonry unit) along the western elevation
- Continuing framing of interior partitions-Levels 3 & 4
- Complete metal panels along north alley and begin metal panel installation along east & west wings
- Erect structural steel at Mezzanine and 7th floor
- Place concrete on Mezzanine level
- Begin erecting structural steel on main roof
- MEP (mechanical, electrical, & plumbing) and sprinkler installation work continues
- Two Week Look Ahead:
- Set cooling towers, boilers, etc on Level 7
- Work begins to bring water into building
- 30-60 Day Look Ahead:
- Begin storefront installation
- Complete rooftop equipment and structural steel
- Tie-in work to Hazel Hall late December (2nd-4th floors)
- Lobby tie-in work delayed to spring break 2010
- Complete rooftop structural steel mid December
- Begin drywall installation end of December/beginning January
- Complete auditorium roof
- 90 Day Look Ahead:
- Complete gas service
- Complete metal panels through Level 5 – begin Levels 6 & 7
- Complete structural steel for bridge to Foundation Building in January
- Complete all stairs
- As of this date –project is 65% completed
SPECIAL NOTES:
- Due to the construction, the two Hazel Hall passenger elevators have been turned off to the B-2 level. (Please call 703-338-9049 if you need access.)
